Angles in our names!
Did
you know that your name is full of angles?
Well, you can try this activity as my 5th graders. While we were studying about
measuring and types of angles I asked my students to draw their own name, then
measure the angles using their protractors and classify them. Students learned
that angles are found in almost everything around us. They also learned to
measure and classify angles in a very funny and innovative way.
I bet you are all trying to find angles in your own names.

World Animal Day
Word Animal day is an international day of action for animal
rights celebrated annually on October 4th. On this occasion, KSPS
clovers brought their favorite pet to school and explained in front of their
peers how do they take care of them. It was an interesting day since we had the
chance to study with our favorite pet.

Hats off to KSPS busy scientists!
My 4th and 5th graders are studying about scientists, their work, skills and tools they need. Thus, they decided to become real scientists and perform different experiments. Every student brought an experiment with its needed tools to the class and performed it in front of his/her class mates. The photos show everything, enjoy them.

Have fun teaching, building and learning!
My 5th
graders are learning about place value through billions. It was time for a
funny hands-on activity with building blocks.
Simply we wrote the numbers on the blocks. The (ones) goes on the smallest block, then work your way up to the 4 blocks (thousands) and so on.
The blocks allowed my students to conclude that the
biggest number must be at the bottom of the stack, building up to the smallest
unit.
“Playing” with
blocks helped my students to physically see and experience place value. This is
an important step before one can expect them to understand the concept on
paper.
Making learning concrete, helps students to
understand a concept easier. It makes learning fun too!
